About Us

The Twisp Skatepark Coalition is a grassroots group of volunteers working to create a safe, accessible, free, public skatepark in Twisp.

We've been coordinating with Twisp Parks and Rec Committee and the Town of Twisp since 2022 to build a durable, high-quality, concrete structure designed for skateboarding, biking, scooters, roller-skates, and other wheeled activities. We firmly believe that skateparks serve as a vital “third place” for youth—somewhere that fosters independence, creativity, and community connection outside of home and school environments. Skateparks are widely recognized for their proven benefits in small and rural communities. They provide accessible, low-cost opportunities for physical activity and creative expression, helping to support both mental and physical health. In places like the Methow Valley where transportation and access can be barriers, a centrally located skatepark offers youth a space they can reach independently, fostering autonomy and positive social interaction. Research and community experience consistently show that skateparks can reduce negative behaviors, strengthen community cohesion, and create intergenerational gathering spaces that benefit residents of all ages.

We are evaluating several potential sites within Twisp town limits and prioritizing community input. We want feedback from residents, parents, youth, and stakeholders to determine the most suitable location for the skatepark, in hopes to build broad consensus and ensure the project reflects the needs and values of our community.

This project will be funded exclusively through grants, donations, and partnerships from start to finish. This includes state recreation grants, fundraisers, and collaborating with neighboring towns' skatepark advocates. By combining grassroots energy with strategic planning, we are working to create a lasting community asset that enhances quality of life and serves future generations.
